Gaston is the youngest son of Asher VonTesmar (the current Director). It’s not an exaggeration to say that Asher hates Gaston. Gaston is half-Kristani, which automatically lowers him in any Dirandan Royal’s opinion, even if he’s the son of the Director. However, since Asher is unable to legally rid himself of the problem (Gaston is backed by his Mentor, the Chief of Directorate Intelligence, March Tramani, who is also the most powerful Psionic on Diranda, the Keeper of the Keys) Asher has had to deal with the boy. Luckily for Gaston, Asher is afraid of March, who has become more than just a mentor to Gaston, he’s filled in where Asher neglected to, and Gaston has become a very dear member of March’s family, a foster son, so to speak. Being a VonTesmar, Gaston has the potential to become as bad as Asher, or worse, perhaps more than any of the other VonTesmar children. Perhaps this is due in part to Asher’s influence but Gaston is a considerably strong Psionic, a Garnet Master, the youngest First Master of Diranda on record, and on track to eventually become the Keeper Nominate under current Keeper March Tramani (a position that might actually have more power than the Directorship).
Gaston is currently a Directorate Intelligence officer, a job he’s very well cut out for and enjoys quite a bit. Unfortunately, this has put him in direct opposition to the Rysusi Legion on several occasions. Particularly in opposition to Jeron Silstrun, one of the Legion’s most notorious Captains. With the war between the Directorate and Legion constantly ebbing and flowing (the conflict is currently considered a ‘cold-war’) both Jeron and Gaston have run into each other often, both on duty and off.
Gaston has a rich personal life. He loves music and is a consummate violinist and artist. He also enjoys treasure-hunting and archaeology in his off-time, which has gotten him in trouble with a local treasure-hunter, Alexandra T’Kayn. Due to both of their stubborn personalities and allegiances, they spar constantly. That’s not stopped Gaston from considering Alex a friend, even if she doesn’t seem to agree. He clearly finds her attractive, but she refuses to have anything to do with him, even though the attraction is mutual. This is amusing and extremely annoying at the same time for both of them.
Other information: Gaston has a thin dark mustache (a ‘villain’s’ mustache), thick, wavy hair cut back from his face and bound in a ponytail at the nape of his neck. If it is unbound, it falls to the middle of his shoulders. He’s not considered “handsome” (like an actor or model). In a lot of ways, he has a classic ‘villain’ look to him, though I personally think he’s more sexy than handsome. He does have a long, Roman nose, a slightly sharp profile, and he is the type of guy who smirks often, even when he’s not smiling, you get the impression that he does easily.
He’s the black sheep of the family, and has been referred to as the ‘punk kid’ more than once. He is the type of guy who could have been a troublemaker in school, except for the fact that he was one of the Princes and was immensely popular because of that. Even so, Gaston has this kind of ‘wrong side of the tracks’ air to him, even when he’s at his most elegant and Royal.
